What is the construction and purpose of the intake and fuel system?

The intake and fuel system is a set of parts responsible for delivering air and fuel to the engine. It includes, among others, the air filter, housing, lines, throttle body, intake manifold, fuel pump, fuel filter, sensors, and injection elements. These components are distributed from the engine bay to the fuel tank and work with the engine control unit.

What are the intake and fuel systems used for?

The intake and fuel systems are used to prepare the proper mixture needed for combustion in the cylinders. They are responsible for the amount of air, medium purity, fuel pressure, and dosing precision. Their efficient operation affects starting, engine smoothness, throttle response, and fuel consumption levels.

What is the construction and function of the intake manifold?

The intake manifold is an element mounted between the throttle body and the engine head, whose task is to distribute air evenly to the cylinders. Depending on the design, it can be made of aluminum or plastic and work with swirl flaps, a pressure sensor, and vacuum lines. Its shape affects not only installation but also the engine's operating characteristics.

How to select intake and fuel system parts for a specific car?

It is safest to compare the OEM number, engine code, body version, and type of auxiliary equipment. It is also worth checking the connector type, number of pins, connection diameter, and the presence of additional sensors. For used parts, the compatibility of mounting points and the completeness of the element are of great importance.

What symptoms indicate problems with the intake or fuel system?

Typical symptoms include power loss, uneven idling, difficulty starting the engine, and increased fuel consumption. In some cases, jerking, delayed throttle response, or mixture-related errors also occur. These symptoms should be confirmed by fuel pressure diagnostics, intake tightness checks, and reading live parameters.

What mounting elements should be checked before purchase?

Before purchase, check if the part has the correct brackets, ports, quick-connectors, and a compatible housing. For electrical modules, the compatibility of the plug and the number of pins with the car's installation is also important. A good practice is to compare the old element with the photo and catalog marking.
