What is the construction and purpose of air conditioning and heating systems?

Air conditioning and heating systems are systems responsible for regulating temperature, humidity, and air circulation in the vehicle cabin. They consist of cooling and heating parts, and their elements are located both in the engine compartment and under the dashboard. A typical set includes, among others, a compressor, condenser, evaporator, heater core, blower, and control modules.

What are air conditioning and heating systems used for?

Air conditioning and heating systems are used to maintain appropriate conditions inside the car throughout the year. They are responsible for cooling in summer, heating in winter, and dehumidifying the air when defrosting windows. Their efficiency also affects driver comfort, visibility, and the correct operation of automatic airflow control.

What is the construction and function of the blower module?

The blower module is a set of ducts, flaps, actuators, and housings through which air enters the cabin. It is used to direct the stream to the windshield, feet, or the central zone and to mix warm and cool air. Depending on the version, it works with actuator motors, temperature sensors, and the control panel.

How to select a part for a specific car?

When selecting, it is best to compare the OEM number, engine version, A/C type, and the layout of mounts and connectors. In many cases, the pre-facelift or post-facelift version, the type of control panel, and the presence of additional sensors also matter. A safe solution is to verify the part by VIN or by the number of the removed element.

What symptoms indicate a problem with the air conditioning or heating system?

Typical symptoms include poor cooling, lack of heating, fogging windows, uneven blower operation, and unusual noises after turning on the air conditioning. In practice, the cause may be a leak in the lines, a worn compressor, a damaged control panel, or a faulty flap motor. It is also worth checking the cabin filter and the patency of the condensate drain.

What to pay attention to before installing a used HVAC component?

Before installation, it is worth comparing the condition of the housing, the completeness of ports, mounts, and electrical plugs, and the compliance of catalog numbers. For parts such as a compressor, evaporator, or heater core, it is also important to check for leaks and signs of previous repairs. A well-chosen element reduces the risk of re-removal and facilitates proper fitting with the rest of the system.
