Purpose and function of the component

The knob is dedicated to the front seat area in the fifth-generation Volkswagen Golf and is responsible for convenient, manual backrest adjustment. As an item from the Other seat parts group, it works with the internal adjustment mechanism, allowing the driver or passenger to quickly adapt the seating position to individual preferences. This solution allows for:

• ergonomic adjustment of the backrest angle within the range specified by the manufacturer,
• a secure grip and stable transfer of movement to the adjustment mechanism,
• maintaining the consistent aesthetics of the upholstery and seat side panels.

Construction and seat fitment

The design of the knob has been developed for installation on the front seat, taking into account the geometry of the side part of the backrest and the ergonomics of operation from the user's seated position. The outer profile ensures comfortable operation even when wearing gloves, and the appropriately selected diameter and shape facilitate precise movement control. Original origin from the Volkswagen brand means:

• compatibility with the factory backrest adjustment mechanism,
• proper fit with the side seat cover,
• maintaining a uniform stylistic line of the vehicle's interior.

Performance characteristics and installation

The element has been designed as a service part with a frequently used function, which is why the knob's construction is focused on durability and repeatability of operation. The used condition allows for an economical restoration of full backrest adjustment functionality without the need to replace the entire seat or complex sub-assemblies. In practice, the installation consists of mounting the knob onto the appropriate spindle of the adjustment mechanism in the front seat area. With the correct selection of the part for the vehicle model, a stable connection is achieved, without play or unwanted noises during operation.

Application in economical VW repair

In the case of vehicle interior repairs, such as replacing damaged backrest controls, using an original, used knob allows for significant cost reduction compared to purchasing a new part from an authorized network. This solution is particularly beneficial for comprehensive servicing of older Volkswagen models.
